About Toby Keith
Toby Keith has come a long way from his hometown of Clinton, Oklahoma, and into the world of a country music star. Having worked in oil fields and trying out for semipro football, Keith found his place in area honky tonks with guitar in hand. Toby Keith released his debut album in 1993, encountered immediate success with his chart-topping single, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy”, and hasn’t turned back since.
In 1993, Toby Keith’s debut album sold over two million copies, with its single, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy”, reaching No 1 on the Billboard Country chart. Also from the album, “Wish I Didn’t Know Now”, “A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action”, and “He Ain’t Worth Missing” reached the Top 5. Keith wasted no time and released his second album, Boomtown, in 1994, with “Who’s That Man” becoming his second No 1 single. By 1996, Keith achieved his first platinum album, entitled Blue Moon. Toby Keith also collaborated with other musicians, releasing a duet with Sting, “I’m So Happy I Can’t Stop Crying”, and then later, “Beer for My Horses” with Willie Nelson, both of which landed a spot within the Billboard Top 10 Country chart. One of Keith’s most prominent tracks, “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)”, was released in 2002 as a response to the September 11th terrorist attacks, which spewed up some controversy with its aggressive nature. Regardless, the song hit No 1 on the Country charts, as well as landing on the Pop Top 25. Toby Keith has since released numerous albums, earning the title Artist of the Decade at the American Country Awards in 2011. Some notable tracks include “How Do You Like Me Now?!”, “Hope on the Rocks”, “Red Solo Cup”, “I Wanna Talk About Me”, and “Drinks After Work” that you can expect to find Toby Keith performing live in concert.
