Sleep No More is a new, innovative theatre experience. It re-imagines the events of Shakespeare's play Macbeth in the context of a lavish 1920s hotel. In the original play, Macbeth, a Scottish general, hears prophecy from 3 witches that he will one day rule the kingdom. With his wife, he kills the king to secure the throne, but is driven mad with guilt.
Unlike a traditional play, the audience of Sleep No More does not sit to observe events on a stage. Rather, patrons don masks to preserve their anonymity and roam five floors of the hotel, discovering the events occurring in dozens of rooms, including bedrooms, a bar, a stable, a psychiatric ward, a church, and a forest. Audiences are encouraged to follow different actors to discover their own story. Guides are available to help patrons if necessary.
