About the Show

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is one of New York City's oldest Christmas traditions and tickets are always a hot commodity. It all began in 1933 when the first production (only about 30 minutes long) mounted as an accompaniment to a film screening at Radio City Music Hall. In 1979, when the hall stopped showing feature films, the Christmas show was redesigned into a stand-alone, 90-minute spectacular. Since then, new technology, songs, and dance sequences have been added in order to keep the show fresh. But the spirit of the original is always preserved. In fact, the numbers "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" and "The Living Nativity" have been part of the show since the very beginning.

The Rockettes, the centerpiece of the show, are a precision dance company who exemplify the pinnacle of professional dance. Their talent is legendary, and Rockettes tickets are always hot sellers. Their signature routine is their eye-high kick line, performed in perfect unison at the end of each performance. Their skill and consistency are unparalleled, as is their work ethic--they have been performing 5 shows a day, seven days a week during the Christmas season for more than 75 years! There are plenty of show times to choose from, so check out the Radio City Christmas Spectacular schedule and get your tickets now to guarantee a Christmas experience you'll never forget!

Plot Synopsis

The show is frequently revised, but the most recent edition goes as follows: The Rockettes open the show ringing out the bells for Christmas when Santa Claus appears and everyone jets up into the air. A 3D film begins in which Santa takes you on a magical tour of New York City, featuring landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, and you end up at Radio City. Santa begins hosting the show, introducing the song and dance numbers, including "The Twelve Days of Christmas," and "Every Little Girl's Dream," a scene from the Nutcracker featuring a little girl dreaming about dancing with giant toys. The Rockettes reappear in "The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" and then on a double decker bus tour of the city. Two boys, Ben and Patrick, approach Santa on the street, asking for advice on what to get their sister for Christmas, but Patrick still doesn't believe Santa is the real deal. Santa tries to convince him that he is magical by flying them to his toy workshop and letting them find the perfect present. On their mysterious return to New York, Patrick finally admits that he believes.

A short video history of Radio City is followed by the show-stopping number "Let Christmas Shine." A scene depicting the nativity is next, complete with a manger and real animals. After this reminder of the origin of Christmas magic, the show ends in a dazzling display of dance and special effects. With this much sparkle and pizzazz, how can you resist buying Radio City Christmas Spectacular tickets? After all, Christmas only comes once a year!
