OneRepublic is a pop/alternative rock band out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Members Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins gathered their friends to form the band right around the time they were graduating high school in 1996, landing small concerts in local coffeehouses. Once they entered college, they parted and went their separate ways. In 2002, Tedder and Filkins reunited to put the band back together again, adding Eddie Fisher on drums, Brent Kutzle on bass, and Drew Brown on lead guitar, eventually signing with Columbia Records. They had begun working on their first full length album when Columbia Records dropped them before its release. However, their success was growing on MySpace in 2003, and eventually OneRepublic was spotted by Timbaland and signed onto his label, Mosley Music Group.
OneRepublic’s first debut album, Dreaming Out Loud, was finally released in November 2007, which included their lead single, “Apologize." The song became even more popular when it was remixed by Timbaland. The track hit No. 1 for eight weeks on the Billboard Pop 100 chart and reached top three on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also a huge hit internationally and reached No. 1 in sixteen other countries, including Canada. Dreaming Out Loud went platinum in the United States shortly after.
In November 2009, OneRepublic released their second album, Waking Up, which produced hit songs like “All the Right Moves” and “Secrets.” The track “Secrets” was featured on television shows including Lost and Pretty Little Liars. OneRepublic's most recent album, Native, released in March 2013, is one of their most successful. “If I Lose Myself” is the album’s first global single, which reached the top ten in multiple countries. However, their most successful single from the album, “Counting Stars," has charted within the top five in multiple countries and received triple-platinum status in Australia.
