Pablo Honey Through In Rainbows, 1992-2008

Radiohead's "Creep," first released as a single in 1992, has steadfastly maintained its status as the ultimate slacker anthem. The song's lyrics struck a chord with early-nineties rockers, proclaiming, "You're just like an angel/ Your skin makes me cry/ You float like a feather/ In a beautiful world/ I wish I was special/ You're so f***ing special/ But I'm a creep/ I'm a weirdo/ What the hell am I doing here/ I don't belong here." As a result of this memorable chorus, Radiohead guitar tabs are nearly omnipresent in the guitar cases of earnest young musicians even now.

While Creep pushed Radiohead to the forefront of the music scene as a debut single on the album Pablo Honey, the band defied the one-hit wonder stereotype and went on to create a series of progressively more ambitious albums. Within the Radiohead discography are a series of album titles that each evoke a different feel and sound. 1995's The Bends confirmed that Radiohead was a formidable music presence, while 1997's OK Computer combined inventive rhythms and complex guitar riffs for amazing songs that won Radiohead a Grammy Award. The band went on to produce Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows. With every new album, Radiohead's lyrics become more poetic and their skill more apparent. A Moon Shaped Pool, the band's latest work, received rave reviews from major publications, and it was a great new work for the band who hasn't produced an album in the past five years.

Part of what makes Radiohead's music so enduring is the live experimentation the band does before recording a new album. Radiohead concerts are more exercises in music development than regurgitation of already-popular hits. Fans are well aware of this process, making Radiohead tour dates the most talked-about and eagerly awaited announcements in the fan community.
