About Fun Home
Fun Home is based on Alison Bechdel's graphic memoir Fun Home. Alison, the main character, reveals her character to the audience at three different ages. The dysfunction of her family and quirky character of Alison create a story that we all can relate to. The Wall Street Journal called Fun Home intimate and emotional, as the audience journeys through the process of maturing and accepting yourself. It won the 2015 Tony Award for Best Musical in addition to four other Tony Awards. Fun Home is a mix of comedy, tragedy, and the sensitive dynamic of family members when one is growing up. It is a raw portrayal of sexual orientation and its discovery, an understanding that is not often clear or easy. The Broadway production closed in 2016, and Fun Home is now on a national tour.
