Atlas Genius was started in the home of brothers Keith and Michael Jeffery in Adelaide, Australia. The brothers spent a few years as a cover band, playing songs by The Police, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones in local pubs, while spending a lot of their time building a studio in their home. They began writing songs, with Keith on vocals/guitar, and Michael on drums, along with their friend Darren Sell on keyboard. The first song they finished recording from their studio was Trojans, which was immediately all over the web on sites such as SoundCloud, iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify. Soon, dozens of record labels, booking agents, etc., were contacting them from all over.
Trojans was named an iTunes single of the week in Australia and New Zealand soon after its release. In January 2012, it was number one on the Alt-18 countdown for four weeks straight. In April 2012, the band flew to the U.S. to sign with Warner Bros. Records, and released their EP album, Through the Glass, in June 2012. Atlas Genius began touring in August 2012 while recording their first full length album on the side, When It Was Now, released in February 2013. Their Album peaked No. 34 on the US Billboard 200, and their second single, If So, landed on No. 8 of Billboard’s Alternative Songs Chart.
Atlas Genius is on the road again, touring in the US with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. after having toured the UK and Australia earlier in 2013. They will be touring through the end of the year, so don’t miss out on Atlas Genius tickets!
