The Green is a reggae band that formed in Oahu, Hawaii in 2009. They are a six person group, consisting of Caleb Keolanui (vocals), JP Kennedy (vocals, guitar), Zion Thompson (vocals, guitar), Ikaika Antone (vocals, keys), Brad “BW” Watanabe (bass), and Jordan Espinoza (drums). Their music is a combination of roots reggae and traditional Hawaiian sounds. Their first album, The Green, was released in February 2010. The album remained on the Billboard Reggae chart for 69 straight weeks, setting a record for the band. The Green was also named iTunes Best Reggae album of 2010 and ranked as the No. 9 album on the 2010 Billboard Year End Reggae Chart. The Green’s second album, Ways & Means, spent four weeks at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Reggae Chart. It was a very popular record for the band; it also won Best Reggae Album at Hawaii’s 2011 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, which is the Hawaiian equivalent of the Grammys. Their most recent album, Hawai’i ’13 was recorded in Costa Mesa, CA and released in 2013, receiving many positive reviews.
