About David Gray

It took a few years for English singer-songwriter David Gray to arrive on the scene, seven to be exact, but who can forget that distinctive keening coming out of the speakers at the end of the summer of 2000, and not knowing what Gray was saying (“Let go of your heart, let go of your head”) but thinking it was pretty catchy.

That was Babylon off of Gray’s breakthrough album White Ladder, which also yielded the hits "This Year's Love," "Please Forgive Me" and "Sail Away." It didn’t hurt to be the hand-picked first release from Dave Matthew’s ATO records. As the opener for the Dave Matthews Band, David Gray tickets were coveted.

After eight albums, Gray returned for collaborations with Annie Lennox and Damien Rice and in 2011 was scheduled for an intimate semi-acoustic tour of classical venues featuring tracks from his 2010 album Foundling and reinterpretations of songs from his back catalogue. It would be four years until he released Mutineers in 2014. Though Gray has not dropped a new album since, he is touring in 2017 with Alison Krauss.
