About U2

Formed in 1976, U2 is one of the most successful bands of all-time -- and perhaps one of the most important. Comprised of Bono (vocals), The Edge (lead guitar), Larry Mullen Jr. (drums), and Adam Clayton (bass guitar), U2 have cemented their place in rock and roll history with 12 studio albums to date -- including three universally hailed masterpieces in The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and All That You Can't Leave Behind.

U2 entered the mainstream in 1983, after releasing their third studio album, War. U2's third album, perhaps their most raw and straight forward rock albums, featured hit songs "New Year's Day," and "Sunday Bloody Sunday."

From there, U2 took off. U2's fourth album The Unforgettable Fire featured "Pride (In the Name of Love)," which became U2's biggest song to date. The fourth LP also contained U2 classics "A Sort of Homecoming," and "Bad."

In 1987, U2 became the biggest band in the world, and ended up on the cover of Time magazine, after releasing The Joshua Tree. U2 had their first No. 1 hit in 1987, when they released "With or Without You" as the first single off of The Joshua Tree. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" became the band's second No. 1 hit -- the only chart-topping songs in the United States for the Irish band to date.

After releasing Rattle and Hum in 1988, U2 reinvented themselves with Achtung Baby, a complete departure from their 1980s sound that catapulted them to the top of the charts. The result was an even bigger success -- and U2 embarked on the ZooTV Tour -- universally hailed as the best tour of all-time.

Bono and company continued to push the envelope in 1997, after releasing Pop and embarking on the PopMart Tour, but scaled it back in the 2000s, returning to their more traditional sound with All That You Can't Leave Behind.

In 2014, U2 released Songs of Innocence -- five years after releasing No Line on the Horizon. U2 didn't just release Songs of Innocence -- they gave it away for free to anybody with an iTunes account. The band is now set to release Songs of Experience, the follow up to their 2014 album. Catch them on tour in 2017 with Ticket Liquidator!
