Live Events in Houston
Houston, Texas is the most populous city in Texas, making it the hub of all cultural events. From its multiple professional sports teams to its huge arenas, there is no reason why an entertainer would overlook Houston. That’s why they usually don’t.
Houston sports center around the Houston Texans, the city’s NFL team that play at NRG Stadium. In addition, the Houston Astros are the MLB team that play at Minute Maid Park. Houston has a big scene for music and theatre. Due to its convertible NFL-size stadium, big shows can perform at the NRG Stadium. The Wortham Center is home to Brown Theatre and the Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, two venues that accommodate many of the cities’ largest theatrical productions. The Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet call the Wortham Center home. Productions such as Shen Yun Performing Arts, Cinderella, and more use the two venues. The interior is most red-carpted, creating a funky, modern feel to the Center. There is not old-timey, elaborately decorative feel to it unlike other theaters. Instead, its modern design creates an up-to-date efficiency about the Wortham Center that’s reflected in its modern exterior look, as well.
The NRG Stadium is home to the Houston Texans NFL team. In addition, its retractable roof makes the venue ideal for a huge array of events from big comedians to sports games. Jeff Dunham and Sesame Street Live! are a few of the unique performances that use the NFL-size space. In addition, huge artists such as Dolly Parton and Coldplay use the arena for enormous concerts. It is the arena to use in Houston, marking its name in much more than just football.
The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts
The Hobby Center holds venues such as Zihka Hall and Sarofim Hall. Broadway’s best musicals and plays travel to The Hobby Center. This list includes Fun Home, Dreamgirls, The Book of Mormon, and so many more. It is the hub for theatrical productions in the city. While the Wortham Center holds more dance and music, The Hobby Center focuses on theater. Its elegant purple seats and high glass wall exterior create a beautiful venue space. There are special dining and seating areas throughout The Hobby Center for special events and access, creating a prime space for Houston’s most elegant nights on the town.
Toyota Center – TX
The Toyota Center is home to the Houston Rockets. However, it also hosts the most popular concerts that come through the city. This list includes Barbra Streisand, Green Day, and Ariana Grande. However, other popular events include Game of Thrones and WWE. There is no shortage of huge-name performances at the Toyota Center, and it’s the city’s venue go-to for the next big act rolling through due to its indoor arena climate and extensive seating.
