Aaron Dontez Yates, known as Tech N9ne, is an American Rapper from Kansas City, Missouri. He is known for his dynamic rhyme schemes and speed rap abilities, utilizing a chopper rapping style. Influences include old school hip hop artists such as N.W.A, Public Enemy, and the Notorious B.I.G. Tech N9ne's music has been featured in several films, television and video games including America’s Best Dance Crew and Madden NFL.

The rapper was involved in collaborations with other local rappers and MCs as a young man, including a short time with a group called Nnutt Howze. Tech N9ne recalled Nnutt Howze fondly in his later tunes, by spelling out the name of the group via the numbers of a touch-tone telephone pad in his song lyrics. The rapper who remembers his old homies became a founding member of The Regime, a sizeable collective of local MCs which included several noted personalities like Dru Down and Tha Realest plus many more, and he was well on the way towards selling Tech N9ne tickets to his growing army of Rap fans.
