About J. Cole

J. Cole is a university-educated, soul-sampling producer in the same mold as Ye who was signed by Jay-Z to Roc Nation. J. Cole has been studying the game since he was 13. His mother bought him an 808 and he began making beats, learning skills from Tupac and Nas records.

J. Cole released a few mixtapes most notably The Warm-Up and Friday Night Lights and the stand-out singles, "Lights Please" and "Who Dat." Cole appeared on Jay-Z's album, The Blueprint 3, and toured with Jigga to support it. He dropped Cole World: The Sideline Story and followed the album with Born Sinner in 2013. Dreamville Records sprouted from J. Cole's unique, successful rap career. J. Cole then released 4 Your Eyez Only in 2016 two years after 2014's Forest Hills Drive.
