About Diana Ross

Whitney. Beyonce. Erykah. Mariah. Alicia. Lauryn. Before any of them, there was Diana. As the first female musician to chart six number one records, Diana Ross blazed the trail for all the women who came after her. First as a member of The Supremes, then as a solo artist, Diana Ross has been recognized for her immense contribution to popular music with 12 Grammy award nominations, a Tony, two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she was once named "Female Entertainer of the Century."

Ross is also well-known for her thriving career as an actress where she received an Academy Award nomination for her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues. She co-starred in the film with Billy Dee Williams and Richard Pryor. Pryor also joined her as part of the cast for The Wiz which included Michael Jackson and Lena Horne. Ross was a close friend and mentor to Jackson and was invited to speak at his funeral but declined, stating that she wished to mourn in private.

Ross has also appeared on American Idol and The Supremes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Not content to sit on her laurels, Diana Ross tour dates have sprung up all across the country to see this distinguished lady perform. Back in the early days of The Supremes, Diana was the group's hair stylist, make-up artist and seamstress but chances are she'll only be performing at these Diana Ross concerts.
