It looks like a big year-end for MMA, as the main end-of-year UFC bash is also scheduled to take place in Vegas sometime around then. Rumor has it that UFC 108, the end-of-year smash up between some of the biggest and fighters, might now be pushed back to January.

Among other attractive bouts slated for the December 12 UFC 107 is that between Undefeated welterweight contender Johny Hendricks, who will be battling with unbeaten new guy Ricardo Funch. Funch, a Brazilian, has a great 7-0 record so it's looking like we'll have at least one other searing clash to go with the much anticipated Evans v. Jackson bout at the top of the fight card. Penn - The Prodigy, as he is known - is a Hawaiian sensation and people are expecting some serious stuff from his. Penn won the lightweight class in UFC 80 and is only the second fighter to win UFC in two weight classes (along with Randy Couture). Penn is considered by those who matter to be the number one MMA lightweight fighter in the world today, and UFC 107 tickets holders will relish seeing him fight again. Penn's opponent Sanchez is a Mexican-American who received excellent Jiu Jitsu tutelage from legend Saulo Ribeiro and who presents a very realistic challenge to Penn's status. The Florian-Guida fight also promises some proper mixed martial arts action with Massachusetts native Florian chomping at the bit to step into the cage with the groovy Illinois Guida, a long-haired puncher who looks more like a surfer than a MMA fighter. But Guida is a fighter, and he has an interesting background that includes a real-life "Deadliest Catch" stint as a crab fisherman in Alaska. Guida and Sanchez fought in the finale of The Ultimate Fighter 6, a shocking brawl in which Sanchez launched a massive attack on Guida, including a kick to the head that knocked Guida down in the first round. How Sanchez will fare against Penn is unknown, as is the outcome of the Guida-Florian fight. Whatever your preference, the guys fighting in UFC 107 will be giving their all.
