Ufc InformationUFC News and InfoThere's been a lot of activity on the Ultimate Fighting front this past few months, folks, and UFC was among the headliners. UFC 83 was long-awaited for a couple of reasons. It was billed as an historic event, Canada's first ever Ultimate Fighting Championships, and thanks to a cancellation of a planned tournament in the UK, our neighbors in the Great White North enjoyed a corker of a tournament. UFC had its own return grudge fight built in; Serra vs St-Pierre 2. The first fight between the two had produced a first-round TKO for Serra, but St-Pierre was determined to put on a fighting show in front of his own people. And indeed, at 4:45 in the 2nd Round, St-Pierre regained the Undisputed UFC Welterweight Championship with a TKO. Serra was on his knees in Montreal, and the crowd went wild. This was a mixed martial arts event in the strictest sense, and nobody who bought UFC 83 tickets went away disappointed! This is good news for sales of UFC 84 tickets and UFC 85 tickets.

And speaking of UFC 83 tickets, the event was a phenomenal sell-out; Canada's first ever tournament sold half the UFC 83 tickets in a single day to fan-club members. The ticket office wasn't even open to the general public at that point. This serves as a pointer to those wanting to buy UFC 84 tickets, to be held May 24 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Serra and St-Pierre weren't the only promising Canadian fighters were set to compete in UFC 83. Among those taking part were Kalib Starnes of Surrey, British Columbia. Starnes caused a negative crowd response when he persistently refused to engage opponent, American Nate Quarry. Quarry defeated Starnes with little fighting, and Starnes' apparent timidity remains a mystery, with several prominent UFC commentators calling for him to seek alternative employment. Mark Bocek of Woodbridge, Ontario faced American Mac Danzig, and Danzig won out in that one.
Jason "The Athlete" MacDonald of Red Deer, Alberta fought fellow Canadian Joe Doerksen, defeating Doerksen.
Lightweight Sam "Hands of Stone" Stout of London, Ontario went to the mat with Rich Clementi of the USA, and Clementi won the bout, as the Americans built quite a scoresheet in UFC 83, despite being on foreign soil.
Other Quebecois participating included Jonathan Goulet of Victoriaville, Quebec, who had a great fight against Kuniyoshi Hironaka of Japan. Goulet defeated the oriental fighter before a rapturous crowd.
Unfortunately, Patrick "The Predator" Cote of Quebec City missed UFC 83 due to an accident, but all in all the event was a resounding success. Canadians hoping to buy UFC 84 tickets and UFC 85 tickets will surely now grow in number, and they'll be hoping for another home event sometime soon.
Among the big UFC tickets events on the horizon is UFC 85: Bedlam. UFC 85 tickets are expected to be selling in hige numbers - and fast - so be sure to buy your UFC 85 tickets as soon as possible. UFC 85 will be held on June 7, 2008 at The O2 arena in London, England. There are 13 fights on the bill, making it the busiest UFC fight card in more than a decade.
