About the Theatre:

The Lyceum Theatre was designed by architect team Herts & Tallant and built by theatrical producer and manager Daniel Frohman in 1903 to replace his original Lyceum Theatre on 4th Avenue, which was torn down to make way for other building projects. The new Lyceum opened with a play called The Proud Prince and continued to present works by many great playwrights, including J. M. Barrie (creator of Peter Pan), throughout its earliest operating years. The Lyceum is the oldest continually running legitimate theatre in New York City and is one of Broadway's two oldest surviving venues, along with the New Amsterdam Theatre. In 1974, it also became the first Broadway theatre to be granted landmark status. In more recent years, the Lyceum Theatre has hosted comedians like Whoopi Goldberg (in special presentations) and John Leguizamo (in his show, Ghetto Klown), as well as many plays and musicals such as 2008's Macbeth, starring Patrick Stewart (of Star Trek: The Next Generation and X-Men fame, and 2011-12's Venus in Fur.
