Her closest friends are the cocky, brash Skylar and the wide-eyed Eva, who looks up to Campbell as a hero. As Campbell's junior year comes to an end, the whole squad is thinking about cheerleader tryouts and cheer camp. Soon, however, some unfortunate restructuring of school districts sends Campbell to Jackson High, a much more racially diverse, less wealthy school across town. And to her horror, they have no cheering program. Instead, they have a dance team, led by the intimidating Danielle. Trying to make the best of a bad situation, Campbell does her best to fit in and find home in this new place. She eventually earns Danielle's respect, but the dance team is worlds apart from her cheerleading roots. Can Campbell realize her dream of winning nationals with this new squad?
