Wegmans LPGA Championship Schedule

The Wegmans LPGA is a professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour that is played at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittford, New York. The LPGA Tournament was originally played at the Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, NY from 1977 until 2009 before being replaced by the LPGA Championship from 2010 through 2012. The tournament has returned for 2013 and will take place from June 3rd-9th, with the Wegmans Pro-Am on the 3rd, Sunrise Walk on the 4th, the Corporate Pro-Am on the 5th, and the four rounds of the Wegmans LPGA Classic competition taking place from the 5th through the 9th. If you buy 2016 Wegmans Classic tickets keep your eye on competitors including Shanshan Feng, the defending champion, Jiyai Shin, 2009 winner, and Eun-Hee Ji, 2008 Wegman's Classic winner. The return of the Wegmans LPGA tournament to Locust Hill Country Club for 2013 is a milestone because in addition to the Wegmans tournament, the Oak Hill Country Club will be hosting the PGA Championship making Rochester the first community to host the LPGA Championship and a Men's Major Championship in the same city.

Like many other LPGA tournaments, the Wegmans LPGA has undergone many name changes over the years. Originally known as the Bankers Trust Classic, the tournament was renamed The Sarah Coventry from 1979 to 1981, due to Sarah Coventry taking over sponsorship for the event. From 1982 to 1997, the tournament was named the Rochester International, and in 1998 Wegmans Food Markets took over the spot as title sponsor and claimed the name of the event, which it still bears today. The Wegmans LPGA Classic is also partnered with the Monroe County Rotary Clubs, and proceeds of the tournament are donated to support local summer camps for disabled kids, with more than $6.6 million raised for this cause.
