The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995, and struggled mightily for the first four seasons of existence. Between 1995-1999, the Raptors posted a 90-206 record. Toronto's fortunes turned around during the 1999-2000 season, as Vince Carter led the Raptors to the playoffs. Toronto went on to qualify for the playoffs in each of the next two seasons as well, but never advanced further than the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Raptors have entered a new era of basketball, however. In 2013, Toronto Masai Ujiri signed a five-year contract to serve as Toronto's general manager. With Ujiri at the helm and and a winning team on the court, optimism is running through the streets of Toronto.
