He was born Rodney Scott Carrington in 1968, in Longview, Texas. He was bit by the music bug from an early age, and was always making people laugh. He got started in in comedy venues in the area and made a name for himself on The Bob and Tom Show. Eventually he released his first album, Hangin' with Rodney in 1998 with Mercury Records. It contained a mix of both comedy and songs. "Letter to My Penis" reached #73 on the Billboard Top Country Album charts. As he gained in stature Rodney Carrington tickets began to become more popular as well. His follow up album, Morning Wood which cracked the top 20 albums on the strength of "More of a Man."
