Headlining major music festivals across the United States, like Coachella in California, Firefly in Delaware, and Governor’s Ball in New York, OutKast has reunited for the first time in seven years.
OutKast is a hip hop duo formed in 1992 consisting of Andre Benjamin (a.k.a. Andre 3000) and Antwan Patton (Big Boi). They are best known for their songs “Hey Ya,” “Roses,” “The Way You Move” and many more. OutKast was signed to LaFace Records in 1992, which marked the label’s first hip-hop act, and in late 1993 OutKast released their first single “Player’s Ball,” which quickly rose to number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks. This was the launching point for the duo’s highly successful platinum album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik in 1994.
Following the critical acclaim of Stankonia in 2002, OutKast reached major commercial success with their fourth album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2004. In total, they’ve been nominated for sixteen Grammys, having won six of them, including two “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” awards and “Album of the Year” for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. OutKast also won four American Music Awards, including “Favorite Hip-Hop/R&B Band, Duo or Group” and “Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album.”
After a long hiatus, OutKast has returned for a grand reunion, playing at more than forty music festivals this summer in celebration of their 20th anniversary. Set lists have included their greatest hits like “B.O.B (Bombs Over Baghdad)” and “Ms. Jackson,” so be prepared to shake it like Polaroid picture to your favorite tunes! Coming straight out of Hotlanta, OutKast is the coolest ticket this summer.
