New York Jets 2015 Season Outlook

J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!

Jets Fast Facts
  • Established: 1959
  • Super Bowl titles: 1968
  • Head Coach: Rex Ryan
  • Owner: Woody Johnson
  • All-time passing leader: Joe Namath
  • All-time rushing leader: Curtis Martin
  • All-time receiving leader: Don Maynard

Despite rumors to the contrary, Rex Ryan is back for another season as New York Jets head coach -- and this could be a make-or-break year for Ryan. Expectations for Gang Green are as high as ever, as the Jets signed wide receiver Eric Decker to give the offense an explosive weapon, while bringing in former Pro Bowl quarterback Michael Vick to compete with Geno Smith for the starting quarterback gig. With Ryan as coach, the Jets will always boast a strong defense -- so the onus is on the offense to produce, and bring the Jets back to the playoffs!

The Jets were founded in 1959, when they were then known as the New York Titans, and played in the American Football League. The Titans were quickly renamed the Jets, and when the AFL and NFL merged, the Jets pulled off one of pro football's biggest upsets of all-time, defeating the Baltimore Colts 16-7 in Super Bowl III. New York's win in Super Bowl III marks the only time that the Jets have won the Super Bowl -- but New York's faithful are optimistic that the Jets will bring home another Super Bowl title sooner rather than later.

2014 will be an interesting season for many reasons, but as always, New York's games against the New England Patriots will be of particular interest. Not only will the Jets square off against their archrivals, but Rex Ryan will have to face off against Darrelle Reivs, who signed as a free agent with the Patriots. Revis established himself as the best cornerback in the NFL under Ryan during his time with the Jets, but was traded from New York to Tampa Bay prior to the 2013 NFL Draft.
