About Madison Square Garden

Rolling Stones Magazine recently dubbed The Madison Square Garden the “coolest" arena in the country, and it’s easy to see why. New York's Madison Square Garden, also known as MSG, recently underwent a 3-year, $1 billion renovation, introducing a new state-of-the-art GardenVision scoreboard and dozens of LED HD TV screens. With the remodel, MSG nearly doubled one of its entrances to include a box office, interactive zones and a broadcast location. For a first-class fan experience, a Signature Suite Level was added, with 18 remodeled suites including “center stage" viewing for concerts, and a new balcony on the 10th floor takes the place of skyboxes that provides top-notch food and beverage offerings. Two Chase Bridges were also installed in The Garden that suspend above the arena floor for fans to have a unique view of the action. You are certainly getting a world-class experience when you attend an event at MSG.

The bridges provide seating for 430 additional fans for concerts and sporting events. The MSG Theater seats 2,000-5,600 for concerts and the sporting arena can seat up to approximately 20,000 fans.

Home of the Knicks, Rangers and Liberty

Opened in 1968, The Garden is considered to be the oldest sporting facility in the New York metro area—and also its most active. Home to the NBA’s New York Knicks, the WNBA’s New York Liberty and the NHL’s New York Rangers, sports are one of the biggest draws to MSG.

The NHL’s New York Rangers opened the newly renovated Madison Square Garden in 2013. One of the oldest teams in the NHL, the Rangers are one of the Original Six and part of the Eastern Conference. They made it to the finals of the NHL Playoffs in the 2014-15 and were Metropolitan Division champions in 2015.

The New York Knicks enter the season ready to make a run at the title, with standout rookie Kristaps Porzingis. The fourth overall pick is putting up big numbers and is already one of the toughest players to defend standing 7-foot-3. With the core of their team returning this season, New York Knicks fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead. Catch the action live with tickets to the 2016 New York Knicks home games at the Madison Square Garden.

The Garden is History in the Making

Since it opened in 1879, The Garden has also hosted a number of big-name events and concerts. In boxing history, MSG hosted the first Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier bout. Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Led Zeppelin and Prince have all played at MSG, and The Garden has played host to major benefit concerts, including a response to Hurricane Katrina, a tribute in the wake of September 11 and a benefit for Hurricane Sandy victims. The latter was the largest concert event Madison Square Garden has presented. The Garden has hosted award shows like The Grammys, The Latin Grammys and the ESPYs.

The Garden is host to more than 400 events a year. Don't miss other history-making shows in the future. Get out to the hottest venue in New York City and get your Madison Square Garden event tickets today.

2016 Big East Basketball Tournament and PBR

In addition to playing home to sports teams, The Garden is also host to many other sporting events. MSG hosts the Big East Men’s Basketball Conference Tournament and the finals for the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) Championship. The WWE Live Holiday tour returned for a one-week show on December 2016. For the tenth year in a row, fans can watch PBR(Professional Bull Riding) in the season opener of the elite Built Ford Tough Series in January 2016.

Family Events

For families, tickets to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus are also a popular MSG event. The first ever performance of the combined Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus took place at Madison Square Garden in 1919.

The seating capacity of Madison Square Garden is distributed over six levels, each as famous as the next, with a general capacity of around 20,000. The most notorious section of the venue is that known as "the MSG blue seats", where New York Rangers hockey fans would regularly heap physical and verbal abuse on those who dared to travel to the Big Apple to support their team against the Rangers. The Blue Seats are a memory now, but Madison Square Garden is as busy today as it ever was.

Madison Square Garden, also known as MSG, is an historic New York venue steeped in tradition. Home to the New York Knicks, New York Rangers and countless concert, sports and theater events throughout the year, Madison Square Garden truly is the most famous arena in the world. While Yankee Stadium manages to sell millions of Yankees tickets each year, MSG is still the biggest venue in the City. Everyone who comes to New York invariably looks for MSG tickets, and with the number of quality performances MSG hosts it no wonder why.

The place known simply as "The Garden" has a long and distinguished past, as well as a glittering future in American events staging. The interesting tale of how Madison Square Garden was built embraces entrepreneurial vision, disaster, and excitement, having been in the possession of PT Barnum the famed ringmaster, as well as the Vanderbilt family. These days Madison Square Garden has left the ornate towers and circus animals behind, and more modern events are held there. The current incarnation of Madison Square Garden hosts well over 300 events a year and functions as home ground for selling tickets for the Knicks and Rangers. Its involvement with these two professional sports led to the Garden's hosting the NBA All-Star Game and NHL All-Star Game, as well as part of the World Cup of Hockey.

In addition to the regular sport teams that call Madison Square Garden their home MSG has hosted a bevy of other sporting events. Some of these include the world's top boxing fights, top WWE wrestling events, and the Big East Men's Basketball Conference Tournament.

Sports compose one aspect of MSG's chief form of entertainment, and rock 'n' roll is the other. Madison Square Garden has seen innumerable giants from the music world come and play, including Led Zeppelin, Billy Joel, Madonna, Mary J Blige, U2, Britney Spears, and Elvis Presley. The crowning achievement of many a rocker's career has been to perform live at the Garden, as attested by those who have released albums or CDs documenting the occasion. Madison Square Garden represents the intensity of New York City, but is also stands for history, and how a succession of visionaries, athletes, and artists have conspired to create a multi-faceted monster in the world of classic venues.
