The Latin Grammy Awards are held in the fall of each year honoring and recognizing outstanding achievement in the Latin music industry, and the 2016 edition promises to be another incredible event! The Latin Grammy Awards honors Spanish or Portuguese language works produced anywhere around the world.

The Latin Grammy’s was first announced in 2000, just 3 years after the creation of the Latin Academy of Recording, Arts & Sciences. The Academy was formed by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and founded by Michael Greene, Rudy Perez, and Mauricio Abaroa. The first annual Latin Grammy’s was held in Los Angeles at the Staples Center on September 13th, 2000. The first award ceremony was broadcast by CBS, becoming the first primarily Spanish language primetime program carried on an English-language American television network. It was hosted by Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Andy Garcia, Jimmy Smits, and Antonio Banderas.

Since then the ceremony has seen performances by Santana, Mana, Shakira, Pitbull, Juanes, and many others. The biggest stars of Latin Music come out for the Grammys, so if you can get your hands on tickets you are in for a real treat!
