About the Show:

It all started with Shepherd Mead's 1952 best-selling satirical novel, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Its hilarious jabs at the corporate world and its practices made it an instant classic and a Broadway musical adaptation played from 1961-1965, while a West End production played from 1963-64. The 1995-6 revival starring Matthew Broderick as Finch and Megan Mullally as Rosemary spawned a 1996-7 national tour starring Ralph Macchio. The newest Broadway revival features Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and five-time Emmy-winner John Larroquette.

The show's star-studded cast list isn't its only strength, though. Its irreverent attitude means scores of hilarious dialogue and comedic situations. It is also known for its elaborate and energetic dance numbers, and its current choreographer, Rob Ashford (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Promises, Promises) doesn't disappoint. Audiences love the classic tunes like "The Company Way," "Coffee Break," and "Brotherhood of Man," and you can get in on the fun, too. J. Pierrepont Finch, a young, ambitious window-washer in New York City, seeks to climb the corporate ladder, and the book in his hand, entitled How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, speaks to him, ensuring his success if he follows its advice. Finch enters the office building of the World Wide Wicket Company and bumps into J.B. Biggley, the president of the company, who directs him to the personnel department. Finch meets the lovely secretary Rosemary Pilkington, who helps him get a job in the mailroom by mentioning Biggley's name. Rosemary is instantly attracted to Finch and dreams of being with him.

Finch enters the mailroom and immediately charms his boss, but he passes over a promotion offer because his book advises him not to stay too long in the mailroom. Bud Frump, Biggley's nephew, gets the promotion instead. When Finch gets promoted yet again, Frump realizes he has been outdone and vows revenge against Finch. Meanwhile, a stunning yet airheaded woman, Hedy La Rue, meets Biggley, who gives her a secretary job and makes her his mistress. When Frump stumbles in on the pair, he blackmails his uncle into giving him a promotion. With his eyes directed at the very top, Finch tries his best to get in Biggley's good graces by appealing to his love of his alma mater, Old Ivy. When Finch is promoted yet again two days before a very important meeting that he knows absolutely nothing about, he must scramble to keep up appearances. Can Finch keep climbing the corporate ladder? Will Bud Frump's interference prove more than a mere annoyance? Will Rosemary ever be able to tie Finch down? Check the schedule and get your How to Succeed tickets today to see how this corporate caper plays out.
