About the Show:
Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas is one of the most popular and beloved Christmas stories ever, and its heartwarming message makes it a perfect choice for the whole family. The musical adaptation takes all of the magic of the original book and classic TV special and translates it to brilliant life onstage. The cartoonish sets are reminiscent of the original illustrations, The Grinch is just as green and hairy as ever, and the costumes are perfectly odd and wacky, just the way Whos are supposed to dress. And audiences are delighted to hear the songs "Welcome, Christmas" and, of course, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" from the original cartoon special.
In an interesting turn, the story is narrated as a flashback related by Max the dog as he recalls the glorious time when his companion The Grinch finally learned to love and celebrate with others. Also new to the story are a slew of new songs, including "I Hate Christmas Eve," "Who Likes Christmas?," and "Santa for a Day." With such an amazing combination of classic elements and inspired new touches, this show is a sure-fire hit for all ages. The Whos of Whoville are a friendly people who live for their favorite day of the year, Christmas. But The Grinch, who lives in a cave on the desolate Mount Crumpit, despises the Whos and their sickeningly cheery holiday spirit. Haunted by the sounds of their Christmas merrymaking, he resolves, with his dog Max, to stop this year's Christmas from coming. Suddenly inspired on Christmas Eve, he plans to impersonate Santa Claus and steal everything Christmas-related from Whoville so that the Whos can not possibly celebrate the next day. He fashions himself a red coat and hat and makes Max a pair of reindeer horns. They load the sleigh with empty bags and depart for Whoville.
As soon as he enters the first house, The Grinch encounters the young Cindy Lou Who, a girl out of bed for a glass of water. Believing he is Santa, she asks why he is taking their Christmas tree, to which he replies that he simply needs to take it back to his workshop to fix a broken light. Sending her back off to bed, he continues his collection, stealing all the presents, Christmas food, and decorations from every house and from the town's streets.
Back on Mount Crumpit with his loaded sleigh, The Grinch prepares to dump the entire thing off the peak once he hears the sad cries of the Whos. But instead, he begins to hear the sounds of celebration as they sing Christmas carols despite their misfortune. Beginning to understand the true spirit of Christmas, The Grinch's heart grows and he saves the sleigh from tumbling off the mountain. He rides triumphantly back down and celebrates with the Whos at the Christmas feast. Order some How The Grinch Stole Christmas tickets today to see this tale of reformed holiday cheer!
