Hello, Dolly! Tickets
Hello, Dolly! tickets are a must have in 2017! Hello, Dolly! is a musical by Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart based on the play The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder (Our Town). It first debuted on Broadway in 1964 and was an instant hit, winning ten Tony Awards. Carol Channing originated the title role and has since been beloved for it and inextricably linked to it. She even reprised the role in two of the Broadway revivals. A film version of the musical starring Barbra Streisand (Funny Girl) was released in 1969.
Among the memorable songs in the score are "Put on Your Sunday Clothes," "Before the Parade Passes By," and, of course, the title number. Dolly truly is one of the most outstanding characters ever written for the stage, and this show is a must-see for theatre lovers. Hello, Dolly! Plot Synopsis
At the turn of the 20th century, the beloved, brassy widow Dolly Gallagher Levi comes to New York City. By trade, she is a self-proclaimed "meddler," specializing in matchmaking and a slew of other professions. While attempting to find a match for the wealthy Horace Vangergelder, it becomes clear that she wants him all to herself. Meanwhile, the young artist Ambrose Kemper wants to marry Horace's niece, Ermengarde, but Horace refuses to bless the match because of Ambrose's unsteady line of work. Ambrose asks Dolly to help him win Horace over, and she starts cooking up some plans.
When her matchmaking leads the whole group, including Horace's two clerks, Cornelius and Barnaby, to a fancy New York restaurant, a series of hilarious antics ensue. Cornelius and Barnaby try desperately to impress some lovely young ladies despite their lack of sophistication and empty wallets; Ambrose and Ermengarde pray that Horace will find a way to accept their union, and Dolly hatches a circuitous plan to get Horace to fall in love with her.
