Don’t miss Edgefest 2016, an incredible one-day music festival taking place at Downsview Park in Toronto in July. An amazing lineup of talented bands and musicians has already been established for the event. Two stages will be featured this year with The Lumineers headlining the main stage while Capital Cities headline the side stage. Additional performances will be made by Band of Horses, The Neighborhood, Twin Forks, Great Bloomers, and almost a dozen other artists. Enjoy a day of great music, beautiful scenery and fantastic people.
Edgefest is an annual outdoor festival sponsored by the Toronto radio station 102.1 the Edge that began in 1987 as a way to say thank you to their listeners, celebrate the station’s tenth anniversary, as well as Canada Day. Acts for the first Edgefest were mostly Canadian bands and included Blue Rodeo, the Pursuit of Happiness, Images in Vogue and more. Tickets to attend the original event, held that year at Molson Park in Barrie, cost only $1.02 out of fear that no one would show up. However Edgefest ended up being such a huge success that organizers decided to plan additional festivals in the following years. The festival is now in its 23rd year and throughout its existence, Edgefest has hosted over three hundred bands, had over five hundred thousand people in attendance, and has been held at four different venues in Canada. It is officially the longest running rock show in Canada to date.
