Colorado Avalanche Schedule

It's been a rough three years for Colorado Avalanche fans, as the Avs missed the playoffs in three consecutive seasons for the first time since 1988-92, when the Avalanche were known as the Quebec Nordiques. New Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy has helped turn Colorado around, and transform a young team into a powerhouse! The Avalanche are once again one of the best teams in the Western Conference, and are getting ready for another deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs!

Since moving to Colorado prior to the 1995-96 season, the Avalanche have been one of the NHL's most consistent teams. The Avalanche immediately won the Stanley Cup in their first season in Denver, and made deep runs into the playoffs in 1997, 1999 and 2000 -- losing in the Western Conference Finals each of those seasons. Colorado broke through again in 2001, however, winning the Stanley Cup for the second time in six years.

Though never a dynasty, the Avalanche were one of the few consistently great teams in the NHL, and in their first seven years in Colorado, the Avalanche made it past at least the Western Conference Quarter-Finals in all but one of those seasons.

After a tough stretch in recent years, the Avalanche are once again poised to be a threat in the Western Conference. Led by 21-year-old captain Gabriel Landeskog, the Avalanche are in position to compete for years to come!

The NHL's realignment moved the Detroit Red Wings to the Eastern Conference -- limiting the rivalry between the Avalanche and Red Wings. Despite the fact that the Avs and Red Wings only take the ice against each other twice a year, you can be sure that the rivalry between the two is as intense as ever -- and that fans haven't forgotten the intense playoff showdowns that took place years ago.

The Avalanche find themselves in the Western Conference's Central division -- and the Central is stacked with great teams. The St. Louis Blues are once again one of the NHL's elite teams, while the Chicago Blackhawks have won two Stanley Cups since 2010. You won't want to miss either the Blues or Blackhawks when they stop by the Pepsi Center!
