Bernadette Peters is one of the most celebrated performers ever to take the Broadway stage. In a career that has spanned more than 5 decades, she has created some of the most memorable roles and given some of the most outstanding performances in recent memory. Her golden voice has also brought her success as a concert and recording artist, and her acting abilities have won her roles in film and television. A true triple threat, Peters still serves as an inspiration to performers and fans everywhere.
Bernadette Peters began acting at the age of three, appearing on television programs such as Name That Tune. Before she was ten, she made her stage debut, and by 13, she was understudying the role of Dainty June in the second national tour of Gypsy. From there, she worked her way from off-Broadway to Broadway in such shows as La Strada, On the Town, and Mack and Mabel. In 1984, she starred as Dot/Marie in Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. The next year, she won the Tony Award for her performance in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Song and Dance, and shortly thereafter, she memorably created the role of the Witch in Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods (1987), for which she received another Tony nomination. She then appeared in Marvin Hamlisch's musical adaptation of Neil Simon's The Goodbye Girl (1993), a benefit concert of Anyone Can Whistle (1995), and won her second Tony Award in the successful revival of Annie Get Your Gun (1999). She starred as Mama Rose in the 2003 revival of Gypsy, succeeded Catherine Zeta-Jones in the 2010 revival of A Little Night Music, and starred as Sally Durant Plummer in the 2011 revival of Follies.
Though she is best known as a musical theatre performer, Peters has also appeared on television, including guest roles on such series as The Carol Burnett Show, The Muppet Show, Saturday Night Live, Frasier, Grey's Anatomy, Will and Grace, and Ugly Betty. Her film roles include Mel Brooks' Silent Movie, Annie, Pink Cadillac, The Jerk, Pennies from Heaven, and Rodgers' and Hammerstein's Cinderella.
In concert, Ms. Peters has appeared at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall and has performed with symphonies all over the country. Order your Bernadette Peters tickets today to hear her perform her signature songs live.
