Animal Collective in Concert
Back in 2009 when we were waiting to hear what the new sound would be, Animal Collective dropped Merriweather Post Pavillion…and then we knew. Aside from some trippy lights and visuals, their stage show consists of four guys on laptops and about a zero percent chance of choreographed sequences or costume changes. But it’ll sound like the Martians have landed and they like booming, rhythmic, jungle trance.
Animal Collective to Play Merriweather Post Pavillion
Two-year’s after the breakthrough success of Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion, the band will actually play the Maryland venue that spawned the name. In addition to lead singer Panda Bear’s recently released solo album Tomboy, the band are testing out new material that sounds like alien rock. Catch this groundbreaking act on tour, Animal Collective tickets are on sale now.
About Animal Collective
Animal Collective’s sound developed in much the same way The Beatles produced Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds-with a little help from their friends. With influences ranging from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to Krzysztof Penderecki, Animal Collective’s discovery of psychedelic…music, drum machines, old synths and delay pedals eventually led to their 2009 masterpiece Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Panda Bear, Avery Tare, Deakin and Geologist make up the core of the group which includes other contributing members. Video director Danny Perez collaborated with the group on audio-visual experiments for their ODDSAC and Transverse Temporal Gyrus pieces which appeared at the Guggenheim as part of an always eclectic set of Animal Collective tour dates.
After playing big sets at Coachella and ATP this year, one of the more historical dates on the Animal Collective tour is the Animal Collective concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion where the band is playing for the first time ever. Fans lucky enough to land Animal Collective tickets will also hear the band testing out new material for their next album.
