It premiered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2012 and received an acclaimed production at Cambridge, Massachusetts' American Repertory Theatre in September-October 2013. Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle star Bryan Cranston tackled the leading role at A.R.T. and near the end of the run, it was announced that he would travel with the show to Broadway. Plot Synopsis:

In 1963, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy thrusts then-Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson into the presidency. Over the course of his first year in office, this ambitious and charismatic figure engages himself in the Civil Rights Act, which is a source of national discomfort and debate.
