Pentatonix Tour Schedule

Get your tickets to the Pentatonix "Christmas is Here" tour and get ready for one of the most unique performances you will see. The a cappella troupe puts on a show you're not going to forget, and we've got the tickets to get you into this exciting show.

Whatever one can imagine from an a cappella troupe, Pentatonix is taking instrument-free music far beyond that. Pentatonix, named after a pentatonic scale whose five notes match its own five members, has derived the limitless sonic possibility from a wide range of music such as pop, electro, reggae and hip-hop. With the most soulful, intricate re-imagining of hits and epically sophisticated arrangements and medleys, this quintet has developed a thoroughly unique and irresistibly infectious sound and style.

A winner of the third season of NBC's The Sing-Off, Pentatonix consists of three lead vocalists Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado and Mitch Grassi, a vocal bass Matt Sallee, and a beat-boxer Kevin Olusola.

The Beginning of the Journey

The journey of Pentatonix began from a high school vocal trio of Scott, Kirstie and Mitch. They had found success both locally and online thanks to their cover of Lady Gaga's "Telephone". When Scott was a freshman in college, he decided to audition for The Sing-Off with Kirstie and Mitch. To add more depth and a distinctive dynamic to the group, Scott decided to add more vocalists. He first added Avi Kaplin, a vocal bass. Eventually, Scott found Kevin through YouTube video for "Julie-O" featuring Kevin's cello-boxing (simultaneously beatboxing and playing cello).

Finally a fully formed musical group, Pentatonix perfected their sound and chemistry throughout the season. Pulling equally from the five individuals' strengths, the group naturally developed a signature style and a knack for arranging songs. The quintet meshed a dizzyingly eclectic set of musical genres magically, evident in its modern interpretation of The Buggles' "Video Killed The Radio Star," or its epic adaptation of Florence and the Machines' "The Dog Days Are Over." Pentatonix had become a legitimate musical force, armed with a collective confidence and swagger that would eventually propel them to win the competition.

Pentatonix Tours and Performances

After The Sing Off, Pentatonix produced and released PTX Vol 1, PTXmas, and PTX Vol 2 each time debuting on Billboard's Top 200 and selling more than 125,000 albums. They have twice toured North America, regularly selling out venues that include New York City's Best Buy Theater and San Francisco's Warfield Theater and their first ever European Tour sold out in its entirety. They have performed for Quincy Jones at Atlanta's Fox Theater and were a featured performer for Diana Ross at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl. Television appearances include performances on Ellen, The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno, The Katie Couric Show, The Talk, The American Music Awards Red Carpet Show and Sesame Street.

The Five Notes of Pentatonix

Scott Hoying is a songwriter and pianist who has been performing since the age of 8. Hoying enrolled at USC where he joined the SoCal VoCals, a popular and accomplished campus a cappella group. Scott has been a finalist on CBS' Star Search and has performed the National Anthem and "God Bless America" at numerous professional and collegiate sporting events.

Mitch Grassi is a recent high school graduate. He was a high school senior when taping of The Sing-Off commenced. In addition to immersing himself in music theater, Mitch's music tastes skew heavily toward underground club and electronic music. Mitch took first place at the Teen Talent Follies for his rendition of Scott Alan's "Kiss the Air."

Kirstie Maldonado developed her vocal and performance skills during her eight years as a touring member at Theatre Arlington. She began her classical training during high school and was a member of the Texas All State Choir for three years. A four-year show choir member and dance captain, Kirstie held numerous roles in local stage productions.

Avi Kaplan is a serious student of classical music who also plays guitar, composes and arranges music for both choral and a cappella. In 2008, he joined Fermata Nowhere, a high-energy male a cappella group which became the first community college a cappella entrants to win ICCA. Avi won the competition's "Best Rhythm Section" award, the first year that this award had ever included a vocal bass. In 2017, Avi Kaplan left the group to be replaced by Matt Sallee.

Kevin "K.O." Olusola performed at Carnegie Hall twice as soloist on the cello and saxophone. While Kevin was attending Yale University, he won second place in the "Celebrate and Collaborate with Yo-Yo Ma" international competition. In 2011, Kevin's "Julie-O" celloboxing YouTube video made a huge splash. Kevin was named as one of 100 "History Makers in the Making" by NBC's The Grio and was hand-chosen by Quincy Jones to represent him in concert at the 2012 Montreux Jazz Festival.
