About the Miami Marlins

Formerly known as the Florida Marlins, the Miami Marlins franchise was established in 1993 -- and is one of the youngest franchises in all of baseball! Despite being an expansion team in the 90s, Marlins fans have already seen their team win the World Series twice (1997, 2003)!

The Fish play their home games at the beautiful Marlins Park, which opened in 2012! Previously, the Marlins called Sun Life Stadium home, which is home to the Miami Dolphins.

Despite Miami's brief history, many great players have donned the Marlins uniform. Gary Sheffield, Kevin Brown, Edgar Renteria, Miguel Cabrera, Josh Beckett and AJ Burnett have all played for the Marlins! Additionally, Marlins pitchers have pitched five no-hitters!

The third time could be a charm for Marlins Park. The beautiful new stadium in Miami opened in 2012, but the Marlins have struggled in each of their first two seasons in the stadium, winning just 69 games in 2012 and even fewer -- 62 -- in 2013. Now with an infusion of young talent, the Marlins could finally have a contender in 2014.

Miami's front office was sure to upgrade its offense throughout the offseason. The Marlins signed free agent catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia away from the Boston Red Sox, by far the biggest move of Miami's offseason. No, Saltalamacchia won't be confused for LeBron James or Chris Bosh, ala the Miami Heat superfriends reunion in 2010, but Saltalamacchia is a clear upgrade for the Marlins.

With an exciting young roster and the possibility of the playoffs distinct, Marlins fans would be well-served to head out to the impressive Marlins Park in 2017. Be sure to head out to Miami in 2017 -- buy your Marlins tickets at Ticket Liquidator today!
