Josh Turner is a double-platinum selling country singer as well as actor. He was raised in South Carolina where he grew up singing bass and baritone in his church choir. After high school Turner moved to Nashville to begin his musical career and studied at Belmont University. It was there he met his wife Jennifer Ford, who he married in 2003.
Turner is currently on tour with his wife, Jennifer Ford, who plays the keyboard and sings background vocals. He will be on tour throughout the summer until the end of October, all over the country. A turning point in his music career occurred on December 21, 2001 when Turner debut at the Grand Ole Opry. He sang his own written song, Long Black Train, and received two standing ovations throughout his performance. He was signed to MCA Nashville records in 2003 and in the same year he released his debut album, Long Black Train. The album spent over 40 weeks on the Billboard Country charts. The song that jump started his career at the Grand Ole Opry received a gold certificate and was song of the year in 2004.
In 2006 Turner released his second album, Your Man. It reached number one on the Billboard Country charts and was certified gold, then platinum. In the same year he was nominated for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Album, at the Grammys. On October 27, 2007 Turner became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. He is currently the second youngest member and it is one of his greatest achievements.
Turner released three more albums: Everything is Fine, in 2007, Haywire, in 2009, and Punching Bag, in 2012. Also in 2012 he released Live Across America, which features twelve songs recorded during his concerts in different cities. He has been nominated for awards such as Male Vocalist of the Year and Country Album of the Year. Josh Turner has received awards for Songwriter of the Year both in 2004 and 2006, and has received Song of the Year for both Long Black Train and Me and God.
