About the Show

Once began as a surprisingly successful indie movie made in 2006, written and directed by John Carney. It starred Glen Hansard, of the successful Irish folk rock band The Frames, and Marketa Irglova, a Czech singer, songwriter, musician, and actress. The two portray young strangers who meet on the streets of Dublin and find themselves increasingly attracted to one another as friends, musicians, and eventually lovers. In addition to starring together, Hansard and Irglova wrote and recorded all of the film's original songs.

Though it was shot with a modest budget, Once found great success in U.S. theatres and received positive critical reviews. It won the 2007 Independent Spirit Award for Best Foreign Film, and the song "Falling Slowly" won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Original Song. Now, Once has parlayed this success into a compelling new stage version. Get your Once 2017 tickets to experience the spirit of the hit film in the intimate realm of live theatre!
