The Tedeschi Trucks Band is a blues rock group from Jacksonville, Florida led by Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. Formally known as Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi band, this husband and wife duo are accompanied by nine other band mates. Not only does it include the usual drums and guitars, but the Tedeschi Trucks band also features a horn section made up of a saxophone, trumpet, and trombone.
The band was formed in 2010 when Trucks and Tedeschi decided to leave their solo projects behind and come together to form an entirely new band. They began writing songs and started recording in their home studio, with the help of their musical friends. Their first concert was in 2010 and they even performed at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival.
Tedeschi Trucks Band released their first album Revelator on June 7, 2011 and in February of 2012 they won the Grammy Award for Best Blues Album. Rolling Stone called the album a masterpiece and gave it four out of five stars. Band members Derek Trucks and Oteil Burbridge also received lifetime Grammys for their involvement with The Allman Brothers Band. The band’s epic year didn’t stop there; in March they were invited to play at the White House with legends such as Mick Jagger and B.B. King. Their second album, Everybody's Talkin', was released on May 22, 2012 and was made up of the band's live performances and covers. Tedeschi Trucks Band began their third album Made Up Mind in May of 2013 and was released in August.
