Boston-based jam band Guster were grassroots before it was chic, making their way on the small club circuit. Before there were illegal downloads, Guster sold thousands of copies of their early albums Parachute and Goldfly the old fashioned way, at gigs and by word of mouth.
Fans of Dave Matthews Band, Phish and Widespread Panic graciously welcomed Guster founding members Ryan Miller (vocals), Adam Gardner (guitar) and Brian Rosenworcel (percussion) into the jam band scene. Guster (originally named Gus) signed a deal with Sire Records and their third studio album Lost and Gone Forever, which spawned the single Fa Fa, was produced by none other than U2 producer Steve Lillywhite.
Guster tour dates and Guster tickets were sought after by fans in anticipation of their sixth album Easy Wonderful which saw the band members producing their first tracks (Do You Love Me and Bad Bad World) since becoming fathers. Though Guster’s popularity has increased, the members are still conscious about their ecological footprint and have established Reverb, an organization dedicated to assisting bands with environmentally sound practices.
