About Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Formed in 1976 by Tom Petty, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are a legendary American rock band, currently comprised of Tom Petty, Mike Campbell (guitar), Benmont Tench (piano), Ron Blair (bass), Scott Thurston (guitar) and Steve Ferrone (drums). The classic rock-and-roll band released its first album in 1976 -- the self titled Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

All told, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have released 12 studio albums, with the 13th, Hypnotic Eye, in July 2014. In 2002, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- the same year that Issac Hayes, Brenda Lee, Gene Pitney, Talking Heads and the Ramones were inducted. In 2008, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performed during the Super Bowl XLII halftime show, thrusting themselves once again into the mainstream music scene.

With 10 songs that hit No. 1 on the U.S. rock charts, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers aren't short on hit singles. "You Don't Know How It Feels," "Free Fallin'," "I Won't Back Down," and "Runnin' Down a Dream" are American rock-and-roll classics.
