Uruguay enters 2014 with high hopes of winning the World Cup. La Celeste is the No. 6 ranked team according to March rankings, and the Uruguay National Team has its sights set on winning the World Cup.
In 2010, Uruguay's World Cup run ended in the semi-finals, after losing 3-2 to the Netherlands. Uruguay's trip to the semi-finals in 2010 was the furthest the country has gone in World Cup play since 1970, when La Celeste lost in the semi-finals. Uruguay hasn't won the World Cup since 1950 -- when the event was held in Brazil, just as it is in 2014.
Uruguay opens group play on June 14, against Costa Rica. England will be Uruguay's second opponent in the 2014 World Cup, as the two clubs face off on June 19. Uruguay wraps up group play against Italy on June 24.
