Joe Satriani is an American instrumental rock guitarist from Westbury, New York. He has performed with numerous bands throughout his career, including Deep Purple, Chickenfoot, and Alice Cooper. Joe started playing at the age of 14. He regularly cites the death of Jimi Hendrix as his main motivation to learn the instrument. Early in his career he was a music teacher, spreading his wisdom on a number of famous musicians including Steve Vai (Frank Zappa), Larry LaLonde (Primus), and Kirk Hammett (Metallica). He is also the founding and only permanent member of the G3 concert series, which hosted a touring schedule of three guitarists’ work. Satriani's most famous album, The Extremist, was released in 1992 and featured the hit title "Summer Song" which was used in a number of commercials.
