B.o.B. was born Bobby Ray Simmons, Jr. and grew up in Atlanta, a location that has heavily influenced his musical stylings. Before long B.o.B. was noticed by DJ TJ Chapman, who happened to be there for the first-ever live performance of Cloud 9. B.o.B. is one of the biggest stars to come out of Grand Hustle Records, the label started by T.I., another Atlanta rapper. Fans were first introduced to B.o.B. after his first single, Haterz Everywhere, a song he produced with childhood friend Rich Boy. In 2008 XXL Magazine called B.o.B. a member of the "Hip Hop Class of '09" with artists Kid Cudi, Asher Roth and Wale.

B.o.B.'s much-anticipated debut album B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray was released on April 27, 2010. Behind heavy anticipation the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts and sold over 84,000 copies in the first week of on sale. The album featured some chart-topping hits like Magic, Nothin' on You and Airplanes. Additionally, B.o.B. was able to get some big names to join him on The Adventures of Bobby Ray. T.I., Lupe Fiasco, Eminem, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Bruno Mars and more. That is just one of the many reason the album was so well received, and BoB tickets started to get really hot at that point.

BoB Awards has been nominated, and won, several awards in his short career. These include BET Awards, Teen Choice Awards, MTV Video Awards and more. Magic is also featured on an Adidas commercial.
