Aerosmith treated Boston-based fans to a performance in Allston today (Nov 5, 2012). The location, 1325 Commonwealth Ave., may not mean much to the average person; but this modest apartment building is now known as, "The Home of Aerosmith."

According to The Boston Globe, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton were the first band members to move into the building, situated across the street from the now iconic Bottled Liquors store, in 1970. Classic Aerosmith songs "Dream On," "Mama Kin" and "Movin' Out," among others, were written here before the band signed to Columbia Records.

With the help of correspondent Eric Johnson, Live Toast got an on-site view of the show. See "Sweet Emotion" below:

The band arrived in true Beantown style, riding in on a cavalcade of Duck Boats. Both local radio station WAAF and the Aerosmith web site streamed the show live on location.

As tenants of the apartment building hung out windows, the band stood at the entrance; Steven Tyler adjusting his teddy bear-themed bomber hat. Patriots president Jonathan Kraft, quarterback Tom Brady and defensive tackle Gerard McCoy presented the band with a New England Patriots Championship game ball before the concert kicked off. The band opened with a cover of Rufus Thomas' "Walkin' The Dog:"

The song was followed by:

  • "Movin' Out," Aerosmith (1973) Aerosmith's first song penned by both Steven Tyler and Joe Perry
  • "Mama Kin" Aerosmith (1973)
  • "Lover A Lot" Music from Another Dimension! (2012)
  • "Back in the Saddle" Rocks (1976)
  • "Sweet Emotion" Toys in the Attic (1975)
  • "Walk This Way" Toys in the Attic (1975)
  • "Oh Yeah" Music from Another Dimension! (2012)
  • "Train Kept-A-Rollin'" Get Your Wings (1974) cover of the Tiny Bradshaw, Howard Kay, Lois Mann song.

The popup concert came just a day before the release of their 15th studio album, Music from Another Dimension!.This is their first release since 2004's Honkin' on Bobo featuring covers of Bo Diddley, Aretha Franklin and The Rolling Stones songs among others. A second leg of The Global Warming Tour with Aerosmith and Cheap Trick kicks off on November 8th. For the full schedule click here.
