Young the Giant is an alternative rock band formed in Irvine, California in 2004. Band members include Sameer Gadhia, lead vocalist; Jacob Tilley, guitarist; Eric Cannata, guitar; Payam Doostzadeh, bass; and Francois Comtois, drums. The band was formerly known as “The Jakes” and signed to Roadrunner Records in 2009. Young the Giant performed songs from their debut album for an episode of MTV Unplugged in 2011 and released a music video for new track "West Virginia" in January 2012. The song was featured on American Idol and Young the Giant performed “My Body” on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2011. Young the Giant played the Sasquatch Music Festival and The Great Escape Festival later in the year. Young the Giant’s second single was “Cough Syrup” and they played on the main stage at Lollapalooza in August. Young the Giant also performed at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards the same month and began touring with Incubus soon after.
