The championship of any sport is always a thriller, whether its the WNBA Finals, the NCAA's Final Four, the NBA Finals or all the rest. After defeating the Connecticut Sun in their conference championship, the Indiana Fever went on to capture their first title in franchise history. This was accomplished despite their opponent, the Minnesota Lynx, holding home-court advantage. Surprisingly, this was only the second championship ever for the Eastern Conference. Tamika Catchings, a former standout at the University of Tennessee Lady Vols, was named Finals MVP for her outstanding play. This award came in addition to being recognized as the league’s Most Valuable Player throughout the regular season.
