About the Show:

Named the "Best Musical of the Decade" by Entertainment Weekly, Wicked is nothing short of a blockbuster. Wicked theater tickets have been selling out venues since its 2003 premiere, and fans young and old have been coming time and again to see this magical show. Wicked is based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 revisionist novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which is based on L. Frank Baum's original Oz stories and the 1939 classic film The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland. When you buy Wicked tickets the audience is brought behind the scenes of the classic story, usually centered around Dorothy Gale, and examines the events that shaped Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, who becomes the Good Witch of the North. Audiences are pleasantly surprised to see that the two women's stories are not nearly as predictable as they might seem, and the show illustrates several profound issues, including the bonds of friendship, the value of popularity, and the nature of history. Don't miss any of the action and get your Wicked theater tickets today!

Wicked has reached a level of popularity that few shows ever reach. It has spawned productions in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Australia, Germany, and Japan, as well as national tours in the U.S. and Australia. Tony Award-winning original witches Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel have been catapulted to the top of Broadway's A-List since their powerfully enchanting performances, and songs from the show like "Popular," "For Good," and the show-stopping "Defying Gravity" have become cherished standards in the musical theatre repertoire. Tickets to Wicked on Broadway often sell out months in advance, and fans are constantly trying to get a piece of this theatre phenomenon, so don't wait any longer to see this landmark show--get your Wicked tickets today!

"...when someone thinks they don't like musicals, take them to see Wicked. I have yet to meet someone who could resist it. It's pretty perfect." Read the full review >>

Plot Synopsis:

Wicked begins as the citizens of Oz are celebrating the death of the Wicked Witch of the West. Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, descends upon the crowd in her signature bubble and begins to explain to her fellow Ozians the true story of Elphaba, the infamous green sorceress. After Glinda explains the extraordinary circumstances that led to Elphaba's birth, the rest of the story is told in an extended flashback. The lights come up on Shiz University, where Glinda, then going by Galinda Upland, and Elphaba Thropp first meet. Madame Morrible, the school's headmistress, assigns them to be roommates, but the spoiled, egotistical Galinda and the shy, bookish Elphaba lament that they have nothing in common and immediately rub each other the wrong way. In history class, the girls meet Dr. Dillamond, a goat and the only Animal professor at the school. After she shows her outrage at an anti-Animal demonstration, Dr. Dillamond confides in Elphaba that something mysterious is causing the Animals in Oz to lose their powers of speech. Later that day, Fiyero Tiggelar, a Winkie prince, bursts onto the scene at Shiz University, promoting his carefree lifestyle. He arranges a party at the Ozdust Ballroom that night, and invites Galinda as his date. When the love-struck munchkin Boq tries to ask Galinda out, she pawns him off on a grateful Nessarose, Elphaba's beautiful but wheelchair-bound sister. After Galinda tricks an oblivious Elphaba into wearing an embarrassing hat to the party only to learn that Elphaba has done Galinda a favor by convincing Madame Morrible to allow her into her private magic lessons, she returns the favor by giving Elphaba popularity lessons.

The next day, the students learn that Dr. Dillamond has been replaced, and they are studying a caged lion instead of history. Disgusted, Elphaba and Fiyero steal the cub and set it free and find that they have more in common than they knew. Later, Madame Morrible informs Elphaba that she has been invited to see the Wizard of Oz, and she decides to take her new friend Galinda with her. Jealous of the time Elphaba and Fiyero spent together, Galinda tries to impress Fiyero by changing her name to "Glinda" out of solidarity for Dr. Dillamond, who would constantly mispronounce her name that way. The two friends travel to the Emerald City, which is everything they had dreamed of and more. But when they finally get an audience with the Wizard, they find that both the Wizard and the problems plaguing Oz are not what they seemed. Faced with a choice between power and importance at the expense of morality or moral righteousness at the expense of reputation, the girls' true natures are made clear. The fate of Oz will be forever changed by the decisions of these two friends as political corruption, romantic entanglement, and an unlikely friendship play out to a remarkable conclusion. Get your Wicked tickets today to see the real story behind the witches of Oz.
