Us Open Cup Championship Schedule |
Don’t miss out on your chance to see the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup! This is the longest running American Soccer tournament, originally being held nearly a century ago in 1914. True to its name, the Open Cup is open to all United States Soccer Federation affiliated teams as well as teams from the MLS. The knockout tournament brings in a wide array of teams from different leagues and levels of play. Soccer continues to gain in popularity, and the US Open Cup is one of the most popular events! Since transportation at the turn of the 20th century limited soccer tournaments to regional events, the U.S. Open Cup was the first truly international soccer cup. The cup changed from being the National Challenge Cup to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 1999, named after one of America’s most important soccer patrons. Eight teams from each level of the American Soccer Pyramid are allowed into the tournament. Since MLS teams have been allowed to compete, they have won every year except one in 1999. Be sure to buy tickets for this historic event! |
