After a much publicized split between Ultrafest and the Winter Music Conference, Ultra was still voted Best Music Event by the WMC’s open-vote International Dance Music Awards. Since its inception as a one-day festival in 1999, Ultra has been a trendsetter in electronic music, breaking techno conventions to include headline bands in addition to electronic DJs in its programs.
