Raptors Fast Break Facts
  • Founded in 1995
  • Owner: Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment
  • Head Coach: Dwane Casey
  • General Manager: Masai Ujiri
  • Home Arena: Air Canada Centre
  • Air Canada Centre Capacity: 19,800

The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995, and struggled mightily for the first four seasons of existence. Between 1995-1999, the Raptors posted a 90-206 record. Toronto's fortunes turned around during the 1999-2000 season, as Vince Carter led the Raptors to the playoffs. Toronto went on to qualify for the playoffs in each of the next two seasons as well, but never advanced further than the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Since then, Toronto has made the playoffs on just two other occasions, during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons, where again, the Raptors lost in the first round of the playoffs.

The Raptors have entered a new era of basketball, however. In 2013, Toronto Masai Ujiri signed a five-year contract to serve as Toronto's general manager. The Raptors have made strides in Ujiri's first season, qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2008. With Ujiri at the helm and and a winning team on the court, optimism is running through the streets of Toronto.
