Bursting onto the scene in 2008, The xx have made waves encapsulating the dark, brooding sound of their native London. Forged at the Elliot School in 2005, which also spawned Burial, Hot Chip and Four Tet, The xx share a similar underground aesthetic. Since their self-titled debut, The xx tour dates have become one of the hottest tickets around. Their debut album, xx, received a massively positive response from critics and general listeners alike. The self-produced album was recorded in a small garage and gained the praise of such huge publications as Rolling Stone, NME, Metacritic and MTV. The popularity of the album soared in 2008 earning them a headlining The xx tour in 2009. Tracks from the album have been featured on shows like 24/7, Person of Interest, Cold Case, 90210 and in the movie I Am Number Four. Collaborations with Diplo and Drake and their 2010 Mercury Music Prize show the band in rare form, pushing various genres forward while also staking a claim in the mainstream. The band has also been sampled by the likes of Rihanna. The xx has played in popular festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. This secured a large fanbase in the US before they returned to the studio to produce their sophomore record titled Coexist. The album charted at number one in the UK and number five on the Billboard 200. The xx tickets for upcoming shows are on sale now, don’t miss out! |
